But I found some blue ones at the Botanical Garden last week while dodging raindrops one morning. The common name for them is RIGHT on the tip of my tongue, but I can't quite remember it. Oh well. It's not often I'll turn a floral to black and white, but I think it works ok on this one!

Gorgeous!!!
ReplyDeleteI know, I know!! That's Sea Holly, or Eryngium. Trust me to know something like that. I always drool over your DOF. The first shot is so stunning, and I love the way the B&W just completely changes the feel--you notice all those little individual tips so much better. Nice nice work.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Your macros are amazing...They inspire me :) So is the whole thing green, petals and middle? I've never seen anything like that.
ReplyDeleteYour first shot is like a burst of unexpected fireworks - like when the flare goes up red, but turns out to be blue instead --- very lovely and delicate in the 1st image; but perfect detail when converted to b/w for the 2nd image.
ReplyDeleteOhhhh... these are beautiful! And I love the B&W-- so soft, yet if brings to focus the "spikyness" -is that a word? of the flower. Your photos always make me take a deep breath and relax.
ReplyDeleteLove both - your macros are oh so perfect all the time - so jealous here :)
ReplyDeleteOh the blue is so pretty!
