I stopped by for the first time this summer the other day (finally)! It was a sunny day so I was very limited to what I could shoot (I try to only shoot flowers in the shade). I'm hoping for an overcast morning sometime soon so I can go back before they die back for the winter. I know, I know....HOW can someone who lives in Seattle WANT overcast?!? It's not like we don't get enough of it during the winter and spring!!!
I converted a couple of these, wondering what your thoughts are about the B&W's? You can be brutally honest, in fact I would definitely prefer it!

Don't the colors on this next one say "springtime" to you?

Not sure what this little bug it, he was about 1/2" across. If Pat is reading I know she'll know ;)

more soon I'm sure....
Hi Lauren...
ReplyDeleteYay, yay, yay! I have missed your awesome flower posts.
I think the black and white conversions themselves are perfect. However I perfer the first one in color just because of the dramatic contrast between the white and yellow. I do love the last one in black in white though. I think all the different gradients make it very interesting!!
I ADORE dahlias too. I love how big and bold they are! These are no exception... absolutely STUNNING. Your b&ws are PERFECT in my eyes- perfect contrast and I love how the b&w brings out the textures in the centers and makes that the main focus. AWESOME. :)
ReplyDeleteI never met a flower I didn't like, and I never met a flower photo of yours I didn't love. :-)
ReplyDeleteWow, those are beautiful flowers! I think the b&w conversions are great, but I love the bright colors.
ReplyDeleteBEAUTIFUL! I really love that third one.
ReplyDeleteas much as i love black and white, i really prefer these in color!
ReplyDeletelovely images. nice to see you back at it a bit!!! keep it up!!
xoxoxoo t.
Lauren, these are gorgeous! I love the "collerette" variety of dahlias with the ring of smaller petals around the centers. You found some beauties. I like the first one in color, but the last one in B&W. As ever, your shots are superb. And unfortunately, I don't know what that wonderful little green bug is; how nice of him to pose for you!!
ReplyDeleteOMGosh! I wish I had known you were in town! We were in the office moving some walls around!
