I am LAZY

Yes, I am. Even though I KNOW my macros come out better when I use the tripod, some days I just want to go outside and SHOOT, and not futz with it. Today was one of those days. And, I'm paying for it by not having the DOF I'd like. Oh well.

These just started blooming on the side of the house. In a couple of days they'll be more open, then I'll drag the tripod out and go for a better picture.

105mm VR macro lens.

Thanks so much for the kind comments about yesterday's pics. Unfortunately, I have no tricks to share, other than that I try and keep my SS above 125 with my 50mm lens (which is the one I was using yesterday), though I will go to 90 if I absolutely have to. I also try to keep my aperture above 2.8, as that seems to be the "sweet spot" for me with that lens.

  1. yep--- as usual. GORGEOUS. You've awed me again. I love the color, the comp and the dof, even if you don't!! I have a 50mm, it doesn't work like yours! lol!!!!!

  3. I really can't tell that you didn't use a tripod! I don't see that the DOF is terrible at all! Beautiful shots! I can't wait until we have more flowers around here!

  4. Again, WOW! I wish my pics would come out like that EVEN with my tripod...but they don't, so I settle for looking at yours. Love the color and DOF on this ones.
My favorite? The first one...but I think I'm biased to shots with a very blurred bg...TFS!

  10. I just got a 50mm. I am still learning the curve. These are very pretty. I would say these are great, but I have seen your tripod work. They are amazing. I just want my tripod work to look as good as your "hand-held" TFS!
